Bills’ win over Chiefs gave son whose father has dementia a special moment
The Chiefs’ rivalry with the Bills has produced iconic moments on the field and special memories away from the game, too.
Since 2020, the teams have played eight times with each team winning four times. And fans from both sides have done some really cool things in support of the others.
The most memorable meeting was the Chiefs’ epic 42-36 overtime victory in an AFC Divisional playoff game in 2022. Following that contest, Chiefs fans donated more than $400,000 to a children’s hospital in Buffalo.
When the teams met in the regular season later that year, the Bills won and their fans returned the favor by donating to Children’s Mercy Hospital in KC.
The latest example of the good vibes between the fan bases came Sunday after the Chiefs’ 30-21 loss to the Bills.
A fan named Chris Seth posted on X about a special moment he shared with his father following the game, which the Bills secured on Josh Allen’s touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
“My dad, who has dementia, lives in a memory care facility now,” Seth wrote. “We can carry on a conversation sometimes but he rarely ever calls me.
“He watched #KCvsBUF today & called me tonight to give me the rundown from the Allen 4th (down) TD run thru the Mahomes’ INT. He was so excited to ‘beat those damn Chiefs.’
”Thank you Josh Allen & the Bills for giving me those 5 minutes w my dad.”
While there is plenty of ugliness in sports, there are also examples like this that are awesome.
While not happy about the defeat, Chiefs fans shared how cool it was that sports gave a son a special moment with his father.
