‘Wasn’t invited anyways’: Buffalo fans gloat as Taylor Swift skips Chiefs-Bills game
Taylor Swift did not attend the Chiefs-Bills game in Orchard Park on Sunday, one day after performing just a short drive away in Toronto as she wraps up her Eras Tour.
Bills fans gloated about the absence of the Chiefs’ most famous fan.
Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, visited Highmark Stadium nearly 10 months ago to watch the two teams battle it out in an AFC Divisional Round game in the NFL playoffs. The Chiefs beat the Bills 27-24 in that one.
Apparently, that visit wasn’t the most enjoyable for Swift — or members of the Kelce family, who were also there — despite videos and photos of Travis’ brother Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman, having a great time with Bills fans in the stadium parking lot before the game.
Adam Lefkoe was on the “Up and Adams” show on Friday and said the reaction from Bills fans (aka Bills Mafia) at that AFC playoff game didn’t sit well with Kelce and his family.
“So, I have heard from people very close (to the Kelce family and Swift) that it was not a great experience in Buffalo for all parties involved,” said Lefkoe, who is friends with the Kelces.
“And I’m talking about the most famous of all the parties. I think that it kind of shocked the Kelce family and everyone related to the Kelce family the reception they got. ... They got there and they experienced Bills Mafia in full form, its complete ruthless and they left and said ‘I don’t know if I want to experience that again.’”
Swift has been a regular at Chiefs games in Kansas City this season, though she has yet to attend a road game. But Sunday’s game seemed like a no-brainer for her to attend because of the proximity of her last concert.
The NFL swore that it didn’t set up the Chiefs-Bills game to coincide with Swift’s stop in Toronto.
“Completely unintentional,” a league source told CBS Sports about how well the schedule worked out for Swift and Kelce.
Mike North, the NFL’s vice president for broadcast planning, also addressed the Swift/Chiefs schedule talk in May.
“I saw a lot of conspiracy theorists talking about Kansas City at Buffalo middle of the season, right when Taylor’s playing Toronto,” North told the AP. “That one definitely did not hit our radar screen.”
Turns out the conspiracy talk was all for naught as Swift skipped the game. Not that Bills fans seemed to miss her presence Sunday.
“She wasn’t invited anyways,” a Buffalo fan tweeted on X.
One Buffalo fan cautioned others not to cheer Swift’s absence too loudly, noting that no one harasses actress Hailee Steinfeld who dates Bills quarterback Josh Allen, when she attends games at other stadiums.
