Signs may signal Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift engagement announcement in KC
NFL fans are conditioned to look for scoops from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
There are rare times when, say, a liquor store employee gets the scoop, but Schefter is often the first to know when something is happening in the NFL.
Does that include off-the-field developments, too? We may soon find out because Schefter strongly hinted at a personal detail about Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and girlfriend Taylor Swift.
ESPN’s “NFL Live” crew was talking Tuesday about the racehorse Kelce bought an ownership stake in when Schefter asked Laura Rutledge: “How do you that know Travis Kelce didn’t buy an engagement ring?”
Rutledge asked if Schefter knew something and he didn’t say no. We don’t normally see a coy Schefter, but check this out.
That fueled even more speculation that Kelce and Swift are engaged or soon will be. That has been a hot topic on celebrity websites for weeks.
A story earlier this month in the New York Post said an engagement was “happening soon.”
“At a Kansas City concert by country star Morgan Wallen, we hear that the wife of a top Chiefs exec was overheard telling pals in a suite that the team’s famed tight end and Swift are already engaged,” that Post story said.
Bottom line: There has been plenty of buzz about Kelce and Swift either being engaged or on the verge.
Swift wrapped up the European leg of her Eras Tour earlier this month and won’t go back out on the road until Oct. 18. She’s expected to be in Kansas City for an extended period. And she likely will attend the Chiefs’ season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5.
That means Swift is either in Kansas City or will be soon.
There is another clue to a possible engagement, and this has another KC tie.
Kelce and Swift have been spotted at a number of restaurants around town over the past year. One of those locations this week contacted people who had reservations for Sunday night and said someone had rented the establishment for the evening. Every preexisting reservation was being canceled.
The owner told one couple the establishment would help them get another reservation and promised a gift card and drinks.
Is that a confirmation that Kelce and Swift are holding an engagement party? Of course not, but with all the scuttlebutt about a special announcement coming from America’s Favorite Couple, it is something for Swifties and Chiefs fans to keep watch.
