Chiefs’ Travis Kelce on Hollywood Brown signing and L’Jarius Sneed’s future
National NFL media pundits think the Chiefs got a steal by signing free-agent receiver Hollywood Brown, and one of his new teammates is extremely excited, too.
On the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce talked about Brown joining the Chiefs. Brown signed a one-year deal worth $7 million, but it could reach $11 million with incentives.
Kelce thinks Brown, who played for the Arizona Cardinals last year, will reach the full value of the contract.
“Hollywood is gonna get 11 mil because he’s worth every penny and he’s about to go crazy this year,” Kelce said.
Brown played at the University of Oklahoma, and Kelce said he got some intel on the new Chiefs receiver from former Sooners teammates.
“I’m pumped about this one, man,” Kelce said. “The guy can absolutely fly. Talked to my guys, my Oklahoma Sooners on what type of guy he is and everybody just raves about the person he is in the building.
“Saw him on Twitch streaming the day he signed or the day he confirmed it. And he was having a good ol’ time. man. I think it’s gonna be a great addition to the locker room as well as on the field. I’m pumped to get in the building and get to work baby. One of the best things was coach (Andy) Reid’s text. Hollywood ended up posting it on his Instagram. Coach Reid texted him: ‘Hollywood, think Red today, KC Red with diamonds!!!’”
Kelce and his brother/co-host Jason then mentioned that Reid loves to use emojis when sending a text.
The podcast was recorded Saturday morning when Kelce was in California, and it seems clear he would love to have cornerback L’Jarius Sneed return for the 2024 season.
Sneed had the non-exclusive franchise tag put on him by the Chiefs, but he is able to seek a trade. After a weekend full of rumors about Sneed’s future, he is still with the Chiefs.
“I believe we also resigned some guys, we got my guy Tershawn Wharton back in the building, baby, Turk!” Kelce said. “Derrick Nnadi, I think we might have gotten Nnadi back in the building. ....
“And as of today at 6 a.m., we still got L’Jarius Sneed, baby. Still there. LJ, man, just stay right there. Just keep cruising. Still early in the offseason, baby, just stay right there.”
