Andy Reid sent text to Hollywood Brown to convince him to join the Chiefs
Maybe Chiefs fans should start calling coach Andy Reid “the closer.”
Reid successfully convinced linebacker Drue Tranquill to join the Chiefs last offseason thanks to a text that said in part: “see red and think Super Bowls.”
That proved to be a prophetic message.
Shortly after the news broke Thursday night that wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was signing a one-year deal with the Chiefs, he shared an interesting post on Instagram.
It was a text message from Reid, who shared a similar sentiment to what he had written a year earlier to Tranquill.
“Hollywood, think Red today, KC Red with diamonds!!!” Reid wrote and then added his name.
Chiefs players will be receiving diamonds this summer when they get their Super Bowl LVIII championship rings.
Brown responded to Reid by writing: “Yessir Love the sound of that” and there were heart and diamond ring emojis.
“Think Hollywood Brown,” Brown continued. “Lights, Camera, Action” and he added two rocket emojis.
Brown shared a screengrab of the exchange, and Fox 4 sports anchor Harold Kuntz posted it to X.
