Andy Reid reveals Taylor Swift won over the Chiefs with her homemade Pop-Tarts
The first Chiefs game that international singing star Taylor Swift ever attended was in September at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. But she’s known coach Andy Reid for two decades.
Swift grew up in Pennsylvania, and her father, Scott, was a big Eagles fan when Reid was coaching in Philadelphia. Reid knew Swift when she was a kid, well before she became as he noted possibly the most famous woman on the planet.
During a visit Tuesday with NBC Sports’ Chris Simms and Mike Florio at the NFL Combine, Reid was asked if Swift ever became a distraction for the Chiefs.
“Listen, I really didn’t worry about it. I knew her dad and her mom and (they’re) good solid people. And I had met her when she was young,” Reid said. “And she’s so grounded for who she is.
“I mentioned somewhere since the queen has passed away she might be the most famous woman in the world. But she handles it. I think it’s a great escape for her where she can come in and she sincerely enjoys the game.”
Reid then revealed how Swift won over the Chiefs: by baking some sweet treats.
Swift’s Christmas cookie recipe is a fan favorite, but she made something different for the largest position group on the Chiefs.
“And kind of behind the scenes to fit in ... she likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts,” Reid said. “So it was over.
“She didn’t give me one and the offensive linemen definitely didn’t give me one.”
Reid was asked if the Swift hoopla became too much for the players or the team.
“It was never an issue, honestly,” Reid said in the interview. “Travis handled it great. She handled it great. And it was never an issue.”
