Tyrann Mathieu joins Chiefs teammates in helping KC community during COVID-19 spread

The Chiefs have exhibited a different kind of teamwork off the field this week.

Tyreek Hill announced Monday that he was partnering with Harvesters to provide meals to families affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Hill challenged seven teammates to follow suit, and the following day quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce announced significant contributions to help the Kansas City community.

On Friday, defensive back Tyrann Mathieu added to the growing amount of aid coming from Chiefs players.

The Tyrann Mathieu Foundation will be donating 30,000 meals to families affected by the COVID-19.

“In an effort to help ease the burden and anxiety in this unpredictable time, I am committed in joining my teammates by donating 30,000 meals to the families in need,” Mathieu said in a news release. “It’s so important that everyone protect themselves, their loved ones and give back during this challenging time. I urge everyone to remain informed and remember that we are stronger together.”

Mathieu’s foundation said it usually costs roughly 25 cents per meal, but that has jumped to $1 during the pandemic.
