Chiefs get good-luck wishes from Christian Okoye, Derrick Johnson, other former stars

You can count Chiefs alumni among those excited about the AFC Championship Game.

Eleven former Chiefs greats recorded videos and sent best wishes to this year’s team ahead of Sunday’s game. A few even made a plea to Kansas City fans.

The Chiefs collected the messages from Derrick Johnson, Johnny Robinson, Tony Richardson, Tim Grunhard, Tamba Hali, Donnie Edwards, Tony Gonzalez, Jan Stenerud, Ed Podolak, Danan Hughes and Christian Okoye.

Here is a sample of what the players said:

Johnson: “I want to wish the Chiefs good luck in this upcoming playoff game. I know Arrowhead is going to be rocking. Let’s go.”

Hali: “Let’s make sure that the sea of red shows up and get this place lit up.”

Edwards: “Wishing the Chiefs a big win this Sunday at Arrowhead. It’s the playoffs, let’s make it happen. Chiefs Kingdom, let’s light up Arrowhead.”

This is the video:

Former Chiefs from the previous six decades are represented in the video, including members of the Super Bowl IV champions and Pro Bowlers.
