Live updates on the Kansas City Chiefs from Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft
At long last, draft day is here.
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to be plenty busy as the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft gets underway. The Chiefs will pick at No. 9 and No. 29 Thursday night — unless they make a trade — which means this draft carries as much excitement as any in the Patrick Mahomes era.
Our latest KC Star mock draft has the Chiefs going wide receiver with their first pick, but there very well could be other options on the board. It’s no secret the Chiefs need help with their pass rush, and they could use a couple bodies at cornerback. Oh, and an offensive tackle probably wouldn’t hurt, either.
So let’s get into it. As this year’s NFL Draft gets underway (here’s how to watch), you can follow along all night with our coverage.
Beat reporters Pete Sweeney and Blair Kerkhoff will chime in with their thoughts, as will other members of our Star sports staff.
