Chiefs’ Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith surprise fans with a beer run after AFC Championship
So what else are you supposed to do after you win the AFC Championship Game?
Beer run!
Chiefs fans were excited to see two members of the Chiefs offensive line — Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith — at a concession stand at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium after the game Sunday night.
They bought beer — fans wondered whether it was gifted — and presumably headed back to the celebration in the locker room.
Each carried out two cases of Bud Light.
Fans inside the bar, many dressed in red Chiefs gear, pointed, pulled out cell phones, cheered and clapped for the players as they picked their way through the crowd to leave.
“Bros literally pulled up to the bar after the championship game. LEGENDS,” one fan wrote on Instagram where user Jimmy Lopez (jloinKC) posted video of the run.
“A man’ s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. Go Chiefs!” wrote another fan.
“Please tell me SOMEONE paid for their beers! And also — why can’t they get locker room service delivered??” wondered another.
One fan suggested this is something of a tradition.
“Every year this is the video I want to see: Creed Humphrey getting beer and bringing it home to the locker room. It is my favorite annual tradition,” they wrote.
True. Humphrey has done this before.
In January 2023, after the Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game, fans filmed Humphrey and teammate Mecole Hardman buying brews from an Arrowhead concession stand.
“Cannot stop thinking about Creed and Jet still in uniform just taking beer from a stadium bar area,” wrote the fan who posted a photo that went viral.
Humphrey went with Michelob Light on that run.
But a “home” brew was on his mind, too.
Humphrey does promotions with Boulevard Brewing Co., which lifted a virtual glass to him after the game Sunday.
