Chiefs’ Charles Omenihu marks anniversary of injury that kept him out of last year’s Super Bowl
This may come as news to some of the younger fans in Chiefs Kingdom, but getting to the Super Bowl is no easy task.
Sure, the Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in six years and for the third consecutive season. They are the first team in NFL history to make five Super Bowls in a six-year span.
But thousands of players who have been in the NFL never suited up for a Super Bowl.
One couldn’t blame Chiefs defensive tackle Charles Omenihu for feeling like he may have missed his chance to play in the Super Bowl. Omenihu suffered a torn ACL in his knee during the Chiefs’ 17-10 win over the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game in Baltimore.
That game was played one year ago on Tuesday, and he acknowledged the anniversary of that date.
“A year ago today I tore my acl, I felt like my life was crumbling down,” Omenihu wrote in an X post. “I was playing my best football of my NFL career & I was just wondering why God would do this to me. A year later, same position playing good football when it matters most & (on the way) to the Super Bowl !!”
Chiefs fans responded to that message with words of encouragement and support for Omenihu.
