Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes weighs in on the family three-peat: ‘Brittany crushed it’

The Mahomes family has already completed a three-peat of sorts.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes announced the birth to their third child, a daughter — Golden Raye — who was born on Sunday.

“Brittany crushed it,” Patrick Mahomes said. “It’s cool to welcome another baby girl to our family and to see how our other kids react to her and having baby (sister).”

The Mahomes family expanded as the Chiefs are preparing for the AFC Divisional Round game against the Houston Texans on Saturday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Golden Raye entered the world, conveniently, on a week the Chiefs didn’t play. Because they owned the AFC’s best record at 15-2, the Chiefs earned a bye during the first weekend of the playoffs.

But that didn’t prevent Patrick from watching football.

“It was cool that football was on TV at the hospital, so I got to watch a little bit,” Mahomes said. “Brittany was kind enough to let us watch football.”

Andy Reid, the parent of five with his wife Tammy, was asked how his quarterback has handled fatherhood while helping guide the Chiefs to Super Bowl victories in the past two years.

“I think he’s done great with it,” said Reid. “Once you have three, four and five are easy.”

Told what Reid had said, Mahomes seemed to apply the breaks. A daughter, Sterling Skye, was born in 2021; and a son, Patrick Lavon “Bronze” was born in 2022.

“I’m good with three for right now,” Mahomes said. “We’ll see down the line, maybe. My goal was always three.”
