The couple announced last summer that their third child, a girl, was on the way.

Talk of her due date ramped up when the Chiefs earned a bye week as the NFL playoffs began.

“I told my wife, my pregnant wife, I was going to get that No. 1 seed, so we can go have that baby,” Mahomes said in a Netflix interview. “So we got the No. 1 seed.”

And Goldie arrived on the weekend when NFL teams that didn’t get a bye in the postseason were playing.

After the baby’s birth was announced Monday, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted on X: “Best use of a bye week.”
