Follow stats, scores & live commentary from Kansas City Chiefs at Carolina Panthers
If Chiefs-Bills was the game of the regular season, then Chiefs-Panthers is ... let’s say a good bounce-back opportunity.
In all fairness to the Carolina Panthers (3-7), the Chiefs’ Sunday opponent has won two straight, defeating the Giants two weeks ago in overtime before a bye. The Chiefs, meanwhile, suffered their first loss to fall to 9-1 last week.
No surprise, almost all of the national picks are squarely on the Chiefs, but it will be interesting to see how this iteration of KC responds to some adversity, particularly after getting away with a couple close calls in starting 9-0.
Today’s game will be broadcast at 12 p.m. Central on CBS, KCTV5 in Kansas City. In Wichita, the game will be on Channel 12. You can listen on radio via KFNZ (96.5 FM) and WDAF (106.5 FM) in the KC area, and KNSS (98.7 FM) around Wichita.

Three storylines for Chiefs-Panthers
Bouncing back from loss No. 1
The Chiefs suffered their first real setback in last week’s loss to the Bills, but the signs of trouble were there in several close wins.
One thing that could help KC moving forward? The Chiefs haven’t started fast ... at all. Star columnist Sam McDowell wrote about that topic this week.
Getting healthier ... but not quite there
News out of the Chiefs facility this week — courtesy of The Star’s Blair Kerkhoff — is that running back Isiah Pacheco and pass rusher Charles Omenihu are nearing their injury returns.
They won’t play this week, Andy Reid said, but what about next week? “We’ll see,” said the Chiefs coach.
Reinforcements on the way?
The ongoing left tackle saga has another new development. The Chiefs reportedly signed free agent DJ Humphries to a $2 million contract. He’ll provide depth behind Wanya Morris, presumably in place of rookie Kingsley Suamataia.
Suamataia started games early in the year, and made a brief appearance two weeks back after an injury to Morris. But he was inactive last week after struggling once again vs. the Broncos.
More Kansas City Chiefs coverage
- There’s something confounding happening with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense: They haven’t been able to connect on the deep ball. Star columnist Sam McDowell took a closer look at that issue.
- Kareem Hunt has been a revelation since restarting his NFL career in Kansas City. Even without long, explosive runs, he’s helped the KC offense keep chugging along. It’s why he’s one of Blair Kerkhoff’s players to watch.
- Away from the field, you may have read about the reported burglaries at the houses of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. The latest development: The NFL believes those burglaries were part of an international crime syndicate.
