A watch stolen from Chiefs’ Travis Kelce reportedly recovered on East Coast
The story about burglaries at the homes of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes took another strange twist Friday.
This week, the NFL warned teams that those burglaries were part of an international crime ring. Houses belonging to Kelce, Mahomes and Cowboys defensive lineman Linval Joseph have been hit in the past few months.
Two NBA players also have had their homes burglarized, along with other luxury homes around the country. The FBI reportedly has joined the investigation in Kansas City and in other parts of the country.
The latest chapter in the mystery came Friday when ABC News reported a watch allegedly belonging to Kelce was recovered in Providence, Rhode Island. That’s nearly 1,500 miles from Kansas City.
Leawood police reported that $20,000 in cash was taken from Kelce’s home in the break-in during the Chiefs’ Monday Night Football game on Oct. 7. That was one day after Mahomes’ Loch Lloyd house was burglarized.
There had been no mention of a watch being taken from Kelce’s home during the burglary ... until Friday.
“Authorities investigating the rash of recent burglaries at the homes of professional athletes have recovered a watch belonging to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in Providence, Rhode Island,” the ABC story says.
Leawood Police said they are aware of the report of Kelce’s watch but declined comment.
“Leawood Police Department will not have any comment on any open investigations,” it said. “We do not want to compromise any investigative leads that might have been developed by detectives.”
When the Chiefs visited the White House in 2023, Kelce was seen wearing a Rolex watch estimated to be worth more than $35,000.
