Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory draws largest audience in U.S. TV history

Last year’s Super Bowl was previously the most-watched program in television history.

Super Bowl LVIII, with the Chiefs beating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime, blew it out of the water.

CBS reported an average of 123.4 million viewers across all platforms, making Super Bowl LVIII the most-watched program ever. The game was also broadcast on Paramount+, Nickelodeon, Univision and CBS Sports, plus NFL digital properties, including NFL+.

More than 200 million viewers watched all or part of the Super Bowl. In addition to the game, plenty of airtime went to Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, the halftime performance of Usher and a galaxy of stars in attendance.

Last year’s audience was 115.1 million.
