Could Taylor Swift show up at Chiefs Super Bowl Parade in Kansas City? We did the math
UPDATE: Sorry, Swifties: Taylor Swift is jetting to Australia, not Kansas City Chiefs parade
The following story was originally published Feb. 12:
Taylor Swift’s boyfriend’s team won the Super Bowl. Now, Kansas City Swifties are asking if she will attend the Kansas City Chiefs’ celebratory parade.
The pop star shared a kiss with Travis Kelce following Sunday’s Las Vegas game (after she flew from a Tokyo Eras Tour stop). She spent the game hanging out with celebrities, including Ice Spice, Lana Del Rey and Blake Lively.
She made it to the Super Bowl — but could she celebrate the win in Kansas City?
When is the Chiefs Super Bowl Parade?
It’s official — Kansas City is throwing another parade.
The Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade is at 11 a.m. Wednesday in downtown.
Could Taylor Swift show up at Chiefs Super Bowl Parade?
Swift is done with the Tokyo leg of her tour and performs next in Melbourne, Australia. Can she go to the parade and make it there in time for the concert?
The show is Friday at 6:20 p.m Melbourne time — 1:20 a.m. Central Time — with opener Sabrina Carpenter. Melbourne is 17-hours ahead of Kansas City.
A flight in Taylor Swift’s private jet from Kansas City to Melbourne would take just over 17 hours, which includes a 1.5-hour fuel stop, according to private plane charter JetFinder.
This means Taylor Swift would need to leave Kansas City by 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, to arrive at the Melbourne airport by the scheduled start time.
Swift has not commented on her plans.
When asked on Feb. 5 about his plans for Valentine’s Day — which is the same day as the parade — Kelce said: “I’m not thinking about anything but this football game...There’s nothing in my mind that’s happening until this football game is over with.”
Regarding the possibility of Swift showing up in Kansas City, Mayor Quinton Lucas said in a news conference Monday: “Stay tuned, it’s a reason to watch the parade on Wednesday for everybody.”
What about security for the parade if Swifties flood the streets?
When Swift attended the wedding of producer Jack Antonoff in August 2023, a massive crowd of Swifties waited outside the venue, closing down a New Jersey street. Kansas City saw large crowds for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour stop in July 2023, which drew an average total of 144,000 for two concerts according to Statista.
Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Phil DiMartino wrote on Feb. 2, “anything at this point would still be in a planning phase.”
What’s the verdict?
With the Kansas City Super Bowl parade taking place on Feb. 14, Taylor Swift could theoretically spend Valentine’s Day at the parade with Travis Kelce and then make it to her Melbourne show on time, though it would be tight.
