KC Chiefs wrap up 2022 NFL Draft haul by picking Thundering Herd safety in 7th round
The 2022 NFL Draft is in the books with 10 new players selected by the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs finished their part of the league’s annual selection process by taking Marshall safety Nazeeh Johnson at pick No. 259 in the seventh and final round on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The 5-foot-10, 199-pound Johnson was the fifth defensive back selected by the Chiefs in this draft, and the second safety, joining second-round pick Bryan Cook from Cincinnati.
Johnson joins a crowded safety group in Kansas City, where Justin Reid and Juan Thornhill are projected to be the starters. The Chiefs are likely to expect Johnson, who possesses 4.35 speed, to contribute on special teams if he makes the initial 53-player roster.
Of the 10 players added by the Chiefs in the three-day draft, seven were defense and three were offense.
