James Shields shines, reaches milestone in 5-1 Royals win over Rockies

In a dominant, efficient performance, James Shields spun seven innings of one-run baseball as the Royals beat the Colorado Rockies 5-1 on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium. In the sixth inning, Shields fanned Troy Tulowitzki, notching his 1,500th career strikeout. Shields struck out eight batters in all. Lorenzo Cain and Salvador Perez homered to power the offense, while Alcides Escobar plated two runs of his own.
