It seemed like everyone watching the Royals game on Tuesday night, whether in the ballpark or on television, knew that James Shields got his 1,500th career strikeout before Shields himself.

His reaction to having the ball taken out of the game? Baffled is probably the right word. Catcher Salvador Perez finally told Shields to turn around and look at the video board, which trumpeted the milestone.
