Neil Nakahodo/The Star

Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. is fondly known as Bobby Baseball for a reason.

He’s officially the best hitter in the American League, finishing with a batting average of .332 across 161 games. He recorded 211 hits this season — the fifth-most in a single season for KC. He also became the first major-league shortstop with consecutive 30-30 seasons.

He’s made a strong case for AL MVP, as well, with 61 multi-hit games. He also set the Royals’ single-season record with 88 extra-base hits.

Now, Witt will lead a new group of Royals into the postseason as Kansas City opens the AL Wild-Card Series at Baltimore on Tuesday.
