In Kansas City, FIFA World Cup transportation sees more than 140,000 passengers

ConnectKC26, a bus system that during the World Cup has transported travelers across Kansas City and the metro, has served more than 140,000 passengers.

That’s according to a news release from Kansas City FIFA World Cup representatives, Kansas City FWC 26.

Passengers have utilized the ride service for airport rides, getting to the stadium and destinations across the metro.

The statistics show that the most utilized bus system has been the stadium direct buses, with 88,771 passengers.

Here is the breakdown of passengers for each match date at Kansas City Stadium, or GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

  • June 16: 18,900
  • June 20: 21,500
  • June 25: 22,052
  • June 27: 25,500

The second most used buses were the region direct buses. These buses were utilized by 34,037 passengers. These buses take you all over the metro to various destinations such as Lenexa City Market, The Kansas City Zoo, Independence Center and more.

The airport direct buses transported 19,214 passengers over the World Cup season.

Of the more than 140,000 passengers on these buses, 31% were local and regional, 56% were national and 13% were international.

“Through Stadium Direct, Region Direct and Airport Direct service, more than 140,000 passenger trips have connected supporters to matches, celebrations and destinations throughout the metro, demonstrating the success of the region’s first-of-its-kind transportation plan,” the press release said.
