Despite Jamar Brown’s double-double, KC Roos men’s basketball falls to Bowling Green

Jamar Brown’s quiet game against Kansas — 4 points in 30 minutes — has been just about the only time anyone has neutralized him this season.

The 6-5 wing, a transfer in his first year with the Roos, played 40 minutes and scored in double-figures for the 10th time this season, finishing with a double-double against Bowling Green.

The Roos were aided by strong scoring nights from Khristion Courseault (18 points, six assists) and Allen David Mukeba Jr. (16 points, 11 rebounds), but they couldn’t keep up with their Saturday opponent, falling 79-69 at Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Brown, who totaled 14 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and one block, hit three of KC’s eight 3-pointers on the night. The Roos’ bench chipped in 16 points, but no player from that unit scored more than Babacar Diallo’s five points.

And KC needed more of a lift given what it was up against.

The Bowling Green duo of Marcus Hill (29 points) and Jason Spurgin (20 points) nearly outscored the Roos’ starting five (53 points) by themselves.

Bowling Green did not shoot well from 3 (7-for-26, 26.9%) but got to the line for 21 free-throw attempts, compared to the Roos’ seven.

KC, now 5-7 on the season, will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 20, on the road against East Tennessee State. The Roos have one road win this season, a 72-67 victory at Lindenwood.

The KC Roos women’s team (6-5), which won its fourth straight game over Alabama A&M on Thursday, will next play on Monday, Dec. 18, against Kansas Christian.
