Missouri men’s basketball guard DaJuan Gordon has entered his name into the transfer portal, a source confirmed to The Star on Wednesday.

Gordon, a 6-foot-3 guard, is the fourth Tiger to enter the portal since Dennis Gates was announced as the new head coach. Gordon joins forwards Trevon Brazile and Jordan Wilmore, along with guard Javon Pickett.

Five total players have left since Martin was fired, though, as guard Anton Brookshire entered the portal before Gates was announced as the program’s new leader.

Brazile announced his commitment to Arkansas on Wednesday. He had been considering a return to Mizzou, but will instead join another team in the SEC that has the makings of a national championship contender.

The news of Gordon’s transfer was first reported by Verbal Commits.

After transferring from Kansas State, Gordon averaged 8.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in 2021-22. He started all 32 games that he played in and led the team in three-point shooting percentage (36.4%).

With Gordon’s departure, Missouri has four open scholarship spots for next season.

Gates has been active recruiting in the portal and has already contacted nearly 20 players. He secured commitments from top junior college forward Mohamed Diarra and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee guard DeAndre Gholston in a span of two days last week.

The new Tigers coach has also been in touch with four-star small forward Aidan Shaw, who was signed as the program’s best prospect since 2017 but re-opened his recruitment after Martin was fired. Shaw told The Star that he has spoken with Gates several times, including in a Zoom meeting, and plans to meet with him in person soon. He is considering “roughly seven schools,” but Mizzou is still in the mix.
