PREDICTION

It’s been quite the week for Mizzou football, and not in a good way.

Last Saturday, the Tigers suffered a 62-24 blowout defeat to Tennessee after entering the game as favorites. Last Sunday, defensive line coach Jethro Franklin was fired and replaced by Al Franklin, who was serving as a defensive analyst.

On Tuesday, head coach Eliah Drinkwitz announced that he was ripping up the depth chart. Later that day, defensive players and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks were not made available to the media, as they usually are. And on Wednesday, the team announced that Ennis Rakestraw Jr., one of MU’s top options at cornerback, tore his ACL and is out indefinitely.

Now we’ve reached Saturday, and a homecoming game against North Texas that looked like a cakewalk when the schedule was released might bring more trouble than expected.

Yes, the Tigers are favored by 19 and this is a 1-3 team they should beat, but the reality is that the strengths of the Mean Green align to perfection with the weaknesses of Mizzou. The worst run defense in FBS will face an offense averaging 207.3 yards on the ground, led by a very talented running back in DeAndre Torrey. After last week’s game, let’s not rule anything off the table.

Still, Mizzou should win this one. If not, there could be more changes in store for this program.

Missouri 35, North Texas 28
