KU Jayhawks set to lose top incoming transfer from 2024. That’s 6 in the portal

Kansas Jayhawks guard AJ Storr has entered the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on social media Thursday.

A KU basketball official confirmed the news to The Star.

Storr is the sixth Kansas player to enter the portal. He joins guards Rakease Passmore, David Coit and Rylan Griffen, plus big men Flory Bidunga and Zach Clemence. Both Passmore and Bidunga didn’t rule out a return to Kansas.

The former Wisconsin standout transferred to Kansas before last season. Storr was expected to be a star in Lawrence — as the team’s top-rated transfer and a top-5 transfer prospect — but never met the expectations.

After averaging 16.8 points per game for the Badgers in the 2023-24 season, Storr struggled mightily for the Jayhawks. He averaged 6.1 points while shooting 38.4% from the field, including 29.1% on 3-pointers.

Storr has one season of eligibility remaining.

The Jayhawks have eight open roster spots.

KU has only three players returning from last season’s team: redshirt guards Elmarko Jackson and Jamari McDowell, plus preferred walk-on Noah Shelby.

The Jayhawks also have three players joining from their high school recruiting class: Bryson Tiller (an early enrollee), Darryn Peterson and Samis Calderon. Peterson was recently named co-MVP of the McDonald’s All-America Game.
