A fourth Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball player enters the NCAA transfer portal
Kansas Jayhawks guard David Coit, a KU senior men’s basketball player this past season, has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Coit, who announced his decision via social media Monday morning, is the fourth Jayhawks player to enter the transfer portal since the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. He joins big men Flory Bidunga and Zach Clemence and freshman guard Rakease Passmore in opting to leave coach Bill Self’s team.
Coit has one season of eligibility remaining. He averaged 5.1 points and 1.5 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game last season. He was primarily a backup in the 34 games in which he played after opening the season as a starter. He shot 38.7% on 3-pointers.
Coit’s entry into the transfer portal isn’t surprising. A source had previously told The Star that his was a “fluid situation.” Much of it depended on what players Kansas wanted to add to the roster and if there was a “fit at the end of the cycle.”
Before he arrived in Lawrence, Coit played two seasons at Northern Illinois. He averaged 20.1 points per game during the 2023-24 season. He played his freshman season at Atlantic Cape, a junior college.
