Jerome Tang adds Serbian recruit Andrej Kostic to Kansas State basketball roster

Jerome Tang looked overseas to find Kansas State’s newest basketball recruit.

Andrej Kostic, a 6-foot-5 and 194-pound guard from Serbia, has committed to play for the Wildcats next season.

He will reportedly arrive in Manhattan on a $1 million NIL deal this summer.

Kostic most recently played for Dynamic Balkan Bet in his home country. He averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in the U18 league. He was also the leader of Serbia’s U18 national team that took the silver medal at the Eurobasket 2024 competition.

In the final of that tournament, he scored 23 points and grabbed three rebounds in a 93-83 loss to Germany.

Based on his highlight reel, Kostic is a gifted outside shooter with good handles. He is athletic enough to score at the rim, but he can also make defenses pay from beyond the arc.

He is considered to be one of the top Serbian basketball prospects who was born in 2006.

Serbia takes basketball seriously as a country and has found success at the highest levels of world competitions. There are currently seven players in the NBA who were born in Serbia -- Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nikola Jovic, Vasilije Micic, Tristan Vukcevic, Nikola Topic and Nikola Durisic.

Tang wanted to emphasize international recruiting this offseason and his efforts paid off with this addition. The Wildcats have been linked to Kostic and other foreign recruits for several weeks.
