K-State changes game time for home Big 12 basketball opener on same day as Texas Bowl

It seemed like Kansas State fans had a choice to make when the Wildcats accepted an invitation to the Texas Bowl.

The Wildcats will play that game against the LSU Tigers at 8 p.m. on Jan. 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston. It just so happens that the K-State men’s basketball team was scheduled to host Texas in its first Big 12 home game of the season at 7 p.m. on that same day inside Bramlage Coliseum.

Basketball or football? Turns out, fans will no longer have to split their attention between two games.

K-State has announced that it has moved the starting time of its game against Texas up to 6 p.m. so it won’t overlap directly with the Texas Bowl.

In an attempt to draw fans to the game, the Wildcats are also selling general admission tickets for the special price of $1. Those seats will all be located between sections 19 and 25 of Bramlage. All general admission parking will also be free.

Furthermore, K-State is urging fans with season tickets who will be traveling to Houston to donate their tickets to a Fort Riley soldier and their family by contacting the school’s athletic ticket office.
