Here’s a look at Kansas State’s 2022 football recruiting class as signing day arrives
It was a busy start to the early signing period for the Kansas State football team.
Chris Klieman had lined up commitments from 14 high school seniors and two junior-college transfers for the Wildcats’ 2022 recruiting class. The Wildcats had signed 13 of them as of Wednesday morning.
K-State announced each of their signings with a mint-condition-football-card theme entitled “Making the Grade.”
The majority of K-State’s pledges are expected to make things official and sign scholarship papers on Wednesday when the early signing period begins. But a few are planning to wait until the traditional signing period arrives in February.
There is also a chance K-State will add a few more names to its class as recruits and transfers make their final decisions.
K-State fans have been keeping a close eye on Nebraska transfer quarterback Adrian Martinez. He is expected to choose between Cal and K-State in the near future.
The Wildcats missed on Colby Reeder, a transfer linebacker from Delaware, who chose Iowa State over K-State and Rutgers on Wednesday.
Klieman and his coaching staff have been busy strengthening their class in recent days.
Jalen Klemm, a 6-foot-5 offensive tackle from Gibsonia, Pennsylvania announced his intentions to sign with the Wildcats next week. He has the look of an impact addition. Klemm also had offers from Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Vanderbilt and Washington. His father works as the offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Donovan Rieman, a defensive end from Enid, Oklahoma, committed to K-State over the weekend. Kobe Savage, a juco defensive back from Tyler, Texas, flipped his commitment from North Texas to K-State on Tuesday.
Add it all up and K-State’s latest class rates close to where it usually has under Klieman.
Rivals projects this class 54th nationally and eighth in the Big 12. The recruiting website 247sports ranks it 53rd nationally and eighth in the Big 12. But On3sports is a little lower on the Wildcats and ranks their class 65th nationally and ninth in the Big 12.
