After Tuesday night home game against Thunder, KC Mavericks pay return visit to Wichita
Here is what’s going on with the Kansas City Mavericks minor-league hockey team this week.
The ECHL affiliate of the NHL Calgary Flames and AHL Stockton Heat took a record of 25-25-1 into a Tuesday evening home game against the Wichita Thunder at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence.
Game recaps
The Mavericks played host to the Utah Grizzlies for a three-game series last weekend. The Mavs lost 4-2 Friday and won 5-4 Saturday.
On Sunday, the Mavericks beat the Grizzlies 2-0 as goaltender Matt Greenfield registered his first shutout of the season.
Milestone
Forward Darik Angeli played in his 400th career ECHL game Friday. He has played 106 of those games in a Mavericks jersey.
Dr. Suess Day
On Wednesday, the Mavericks will be visiting a few Blue Springs elementary schools to read to students for National Read Across America Day.
Upcoming games
The Mavericks were set to welcome the Wichita Thunder to Cable Dahmer Arena Tuesday night. The Mavs then travel to Wichita on Friday to face the Thunder at 7:05 p.m.
On Saturday, the Mavericks play host to the Iowa Heartlanders for Marvel Super Hero Night. The Mavs will be wearing specialty jerseys for the 7:05 p.m. game, and the first 1,000 fans at the arena will receive a free souvenir poster.
On Sunday, the Mavs face the Thunder for a matinee home game at 4:05 p.m.
