Kansas City Mavericks end three-game losing streak with Monday night home win vs. Idaho
The Kansas City Mavericks returned to the win column Monday night at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, beating the Idaho Steelheads 5-1.
The victory ended a three-match losing skid for the ECHL minor-league hockey affliliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames and AHL’s Stockton Heat.
Here’s what’s going on with the Mavs this week.
Outburst of offense
Darik Angeli scored twice Monday as the Mavericks put Idaho away with four goals in the final period. The Steelheads scored their lone goal in the third frame.
Ryan Olsen, Jimmy Lodge and Ryan Harrison also scored for the Mavs (23-24-2).
The lopsided victory was a welcome outcome for KC after two losses last week to the Allen Americans (7-2 and 5-4) and one to the Steelheads (2-1 in a shootout on Friday).

The Mavericks welcome the Utah Grizzlies to Cable Dahmer Arena for a three-game series this weekend.
On Friday, kids wearing their youth sports gear can receive one free ticket at the box office
Saturday is First Responders Night. The Mavs will honor local police, firefighters and EMTs. All first responders can buy $20 tickets at the arena box office. The players will wear (and later auction off) special jerseys.
On Sunday, the puck drops early for a 4:05 pm matinee matchup.
