Bone chilling wind, rain and possible snow in weather forecast for Kansas City
After an unusual Christmas heat wave, a cold front is expected to move into Kansas City this week, bringing possible snow to some parts of Missouri Sunday afternoon.
A hazardous weather outlook is in effect Sunday, bringing showers and a few isolated thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service, and the possibility of small hail. Brief snow is possible this afternoon north of U.S. Highway 36, but no more than a dusting is expected. The temperature is expected to sink to 25 degrees before 5 p.m.
Wind gusts are expected to range from 35 to 45 mph into Monday morning when the wind chill will range from near zero to ten below zero. Sunday night will be mostly clear with a low around 16 degrees.
Monday will be sunny with a high near 27 and wind chill temperatures between zero and 10 degrees with gusts as high as 34 mph, according to the forecast. The wind gusts will die down Monday night, with a low of 17 degrees.
Temperatures will warm up Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs of 41 and 46 degrees and lows of 28.
