Showers, thunderstorms likely in KC area. How long will heat, humidity persist?

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible in the Kansas City area on Tuesday, primarily north of Interstate 70, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Grundy, Harrison, Mercer, Gentry, Nodaway and Worth counties after overnight storms brought 2 to 5 inches of rain to northern Missouri. An additional 1 to 2.5 inches of rain is possible. The warning is in effect until 10:30 a.m.

In the metro area, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m., then followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon, according to the weather service.

There is a low-end risk of severe weather primarily north of I-70 as two rounds of storms sweep through the area, the weather service said.

The timing of the first round is expected between 3 and 5 p.m., and may bring brief heavy rain and strong winds. The second round is will likely be between 7 and 10 p.m., primarily north of U.S. 36 across northern Missouri, the weather service said. Strong winds and heavy rain are possible.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible again Wednesday afternoon, primarily across southern Missouri near the Ozarks.
