Storms in forecast provide no relief from extreme heat wave in Kansas City metro
Some showers and thunder that passed through the Kansas City area Wednesday weren’t expected to provide any relief from the extreme heat, meteorologists said.
The National Weather Service said some rain and thunder was forecast to pass through the metro area Wednesday morning.
However, high temperatures Wednesday afternoon are still expected to reach between 100 and 105 degrees with humidity. The heat wave is expected to last through the rest of the week, with temperatures from Thursday through Saturday also reaching highs between 98 and 108.
A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Wednesday through 9 p.m. Friday.
The weather service advised workers who must be outside to take breaks inside or in the shade frequently and stay hydrated. Kansas Citians should also check on others and never leave children, pets or people with limited mobility alone in vehicles during the extreme heat.
