Heat wave in Kansas City will start Tuesday and last for rest of week, meteorologists say
High temperatures and humidity starting Tuesday will plague the Kansas City area through the rest of the week.
The heat wave will begin Tuesday, with highs in downtown reaching 97 degrees but feeling like 100.
Temperatures will increase throughout the week, with Wednesday’s highs reaching 100 degrees but feeling like 105 and high temperatures Thursday and Friday reaching 105.
There won’t be much relief in the overnight hours, especially in the city’s urban core. Low temperatures will remain in the 80s every night.
Workers should remain inside if possible.
Anyone who needs to work outside should stay hydrated, try to stay in shaded areas, wear light-colored clothes and take frequent breaks. If possible, they should try to take breaks in air-conditioned buildings or cars to cool their body temperature.
