Jacket weather begins in Kansas City as chilly mornings, maybe patchy frost, likely

Conditions will be cooler than average this week in the Kansas City metro as some areas could see patchy frost, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“Later on today it’s going to be cooler than average,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “We’re expecting our temperatures to only top out in the low to mid-60s.”

The metro area will be fighting clouds all day, she said, but there will be peeks of sunshine. Conditions will also be drier than Sunday, which was soggy in parts of the metro.

Clouds will start clearing on Tuesday, ushering in more sunshine. Temperatures, however, will see some “big ups and downs” with highs in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Morning temperatures are expect to range from the 30s to 50s as well.

“A couple of mornings will be pretty chilly, maybe even a little patchy frost by Friday morning as we dip into the upper 30s,” Ritter said.

The National Weather Service in Kansas City said the average high for this time of year in Kansas City is the mid-70s, with the average low in the lower 50s.
