Kansas City metro under another heat advisory Sunday afternoon following morning rain

The Kansas City metro area will be under another extreme heat warning beginning early Sunday afternoon.

A heat advisory goes into effect at 1 p.m. and lasts through 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory spans the entire metro area and reaches north into Iowa and west into central Kansas.

The temperature in Kansas City could reach as high as 96, with the heat index inching toward 107 degrees, according to the weather service.

The advisory is preceded by a 20% chance of rain in the morning. It could be windy later in the day, with gusts up to 25 miles per hour.

The temperature will get down to about 75 degrees Sunday night, according to the weather service.

Monday will likely bring a heat index in the triple digits, too, at 103 degrees. Be on the lookout for more rain and storms early Monday afternoon.

Rain continues to be a possibility each day through Friday, with the high temperature hovering in the mid-80s each day after Monday.
