After rain, Kansas City to see dry, cool start to August

After a wet and humid July, Kansas City residents can expect a mostly dry and cool start to August, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

After several days of storms, the Kansas City area saw its fifth-wettest July on record and its wettest July since 1993 with just over 10 inches of rain, Lauria said.

The week ahead should bring cooler temperatures with highs most days in the lower 80s and upper 70s, Lauria said in a weather report for The Star. There’s a chance for some isolated showers Saturday night and Sunday morning, but Lauria said the days should remain dry with high temperatures of 83 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday.

High temperatures for the rest of the week could reach 79 on Monday, 77 on Tuesday, 78 on Wednesday, 83 on Thursday and 86 on Friday, according to the forecast. Morning lows for the week range from 58 to 65 degrees, which Lauria said could be close to records.

“It looks like those afternoon highs may not even get to 80 for several days next week,” Lauria said. “First week of August? We’ll take that for sure.”
