Kansas City metro under flood advisory as storms, rain move through region
The Kansas City metro area remains under a flood advisory Monday morning as rain continues to push through the area, according to the National Weather Service.
As of 5 a.m. Monday, the overnight rainfall measured about .07 inches, at that point making this month the 16th wettest July on record, according to the weather service.
Just before 9 a.m., the weather service said parts of the metro reported up to three inches of rain, with water covering some roads in Lafayette, Johnson, Cass and Henry counties in Missouri.
The greatest chance for rain Monday will continue into the afternoon with a lesser chance going into the evening. More than three inches of rain are possible in some areas, though most will see less than that.
Monday’s high will be cooler than weeks past, with the warmest temperatures reaching near 80 degrees, according to the weather service.
Tuesday will be warmer, with a high near 88. The day will stay mostly sunny, with a slight chance of rain in the overnight hours.
The possibility of rain and thunderstorms returns Wednesday and will hang around until at least Friday, with the daily highs settling in the mid-80s, according to the weather service.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny with highs in the low 80s.
