It’s all about heat, humidity as Kansas City ends work week, begins weekend

It’s going to be another hot and humid weekend in Kansas City metro area, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith.

“As we close out the work week and enter the upcoming weekend, it’s all about the heat and the humidity as temperatures will be in the lower 90s today and middle 90s for Saturday and Sunday,” said Bogowith, who provides weather updates to The Star.

“We’re staying mostly dry but I would not be surprised if someone today or even potentially for your Saturday saw an isolated shower or thunderstorm bubble up very briefly,” she said.

The heat index on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will climb over 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.

“Missouri is relentless with this hot summer weather!” the weather service said on Twitter.

The next cold front to move into the Kansas City metro will arrive Monday, bringing relief from the weekend heat and humidity, she said.

“Scattered showers, rumbles of thunder will be possible off and on throughout the day Monday before this front settles off to our south and east leaving us with some drier conditions as we work past the sunrise on Tuesday and open those skies right back on up,” she said.

Temperatures next week will be significantly cooler, with highs in the middle to upper 80s through most of the workweek, she said.
