Heat warning continues through Sunday as days-long stretch of storms begins in KC
Kansas City is under an excessive heat warning through Sunday evening as thunderstorms begin to pop up around the metro.
“Dangerously hot conditions” will remain in the metro area until 9 p.m. Sunday as the humidity remains high and the temperatures creep into the low 90s, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunday’s heat index will likely hit triple digits — between 100 to 105 degrees — particularly along and south of Interstate 70, according to the weather service.
This chance of thunderstorms with potential for wind gusts and hail begins around 3 p.m. Sunday, with the highest likelihood for storms coming after 1 a.m. Monday.
More storms are possible through the day Monday as the high temperatures drops slightly, into the mid-80s, with an overnight low around 70 degrees.
Rain will probably continue making appearances around the metro Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The high temperatures will hang out in the upper-80s.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be sunny and clear, with highs in the low 90s.
