Humid conditions to rule Kansas City into Wednesday as heat index could approach 100

Hot and humid temperatures will continue to be in the forecast in Kansas City through Tuesday morning. While it is expected to be cloudy, there will be little chance of rain, said FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

“With the humidity levels at or above today’s level, that means the heat index for [Tuesday] afternoon will be around 100 degrees,” said Lauria, who provides weather updates to The Star.

Temperatures will dip to the mid-70s Tuesday morning, with highs forecast to be near 90 along with breezy conditions and mostly cloudy skies, he said.

The humidity will continue to be extremely high Wednesday and a heat advisory will likely be in place as the heat index could reach as high as 105.

Rain chances are expected to be isolated, but there could be a small system developing Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The weather on Thursday is expected to be dry as well, Lauria said.

“There’s no overwhelming chance of rain moving through the metro for the next several days and that would hopefully get us through the holiday weekend, if you have some outdoor plans for the weekend,” he said.

Meanwhile, a flash flood watch is in effect through 1 p.m. Tuesday in some parts of central Missouri including Columbia as severe thunderstorms could produce heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.
