Heat and humidity here to stay through Independence Day in Kansas City

Monday is the start of what’s expected to be another hot and humid week in the Kansas City metro, said Fox 4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“Later on today we’re going to be flirting with 90 degrees again, and for those of you who fall short of 90, you can thank the cloud cover,” Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.

The weather Monday in Kansas City is expected to be hot and humid, though some cloud cover is possible, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter. Some pop-up showers could make their way over the metro in the afternoon or early evening.

Ritter said those on the Missouri side of the metro may notice a few more clouds blocking out the sun than those on the Kansas side.

Pop-up showers are also possible Monday afternoon or early evening along the state line and points to the east.

“I want to warn you though, it’s going to be humid outside,” Ritter said. “So even if you don’t officially hit 90 on the thermometer, the heat index will make it feel like it’s in the 90s.”

She said the heat index will come up a lot in the next week.

“The bigger story is the heat. We could be topping out in the mid-90s by Wednesday before we settle into a little bit, and I mean little bit, cooler forecast heading into the upcoming holiday weekend,” Ritter said.
