‘No nuisance weather at all’ as Kansas City enters stretch of drier, hotter days

After a dry, cool start to the morning Friday, the Kansas City area will enter a stretch of days where it will be hotter than normal for this time of year in the metro, according to Fox 4 meteorologist Alex Countee.

“Moving out this morning, we are going to be seeing the 60s and a couple scattered clouds out there,” said Countee, who provides weather updates to The Star.

“Still, no nuisance weather at all the rest of the day, throughout the weekend and even into next week,” he said. “We will notice the humidity climb up a little bit day in and day out. The air temperatures are doing the exact same thing so we may be feeling more of a heat index especially as we head into the middle of next week.”

The highs are expected to be in the upper 80s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, climbing into the the 90s through the majority of next week.

The normal high for this time of year in Kansas City is the lower to mid-80s, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.

The best shot of rain in the forecast would be Saturday afternoon and Sunday east of Kansas City, but that chance of storms is pretty low, Countee said. No severe weather is expected.

“As we head toward next week, it still looks pretty dry as we’re dealing with summer-like weather here in Kansas City,” he said.
