It will be a messy week as rain showers, severe weather possible in Kansas City area
Rounds of rain showers and maybe some thunderstorms will be possible this week as Kansas City enters a wet and active weather pattern, said FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank.
“It’ll be a pretty wet week all things considered,” said Frank, who provides weather updates to The Star.
With highs climbing into the 40s, the remainder of Sunday will be dry, Frank said.
“That’s not going to be something we are going to say much throughout this week,” he said. “Let’s start with Monday . . . some rain early morning — I think it’s a cold rain as well — that’s our main focus with temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s.”

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
Although the rain totals might not sound like much — 1/10th of an inch on Monday — it will add up over the next few days.
“It’s been fairly wet and I do expect that will continue,” Frank said.
“A dry day on Tuesday,” Frank said. “And then it gets a little bit more messy in the terms of wet weather.”
Rain is expected to return Wednesday and there’s a possibility of thunderstorms and severe weather on Thursday, Frank said.
“I expect thunderstorms, but in terms of the strength or severity of them, it’s still going to be up in the air the next few days,” he said.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said locally heavy rains and severe weather is a possibility as a strong storm system sweeps through the region Wednesday into Thursday.
