Overnight fire heavily damages Overland Park home; no one injured in blaze
An early morning fire heavily damaged a two-story home in Overland Park, the fire department said in a release.
Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the 8900 block of Conser Street.
The first units on the scene reported heavy fire coming through the roof of the home. The resident had escaped safely and was not injured, a fire official said.
Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack on the fire and were able to knock down a heavy volume of fire. The fire, however, burned through the majority of the home’s roof, fire officials said.
Firefighters also had to extinguish pockets of fire that were in difficult to reach areas of the attic. Additional fire engines were called to help.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in just over an hour. The home sustained significant damage from the fire and is uninhabitable, a fire official said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
