Warm weather in forecast this weekend for Kansas City
Two fast-moving weather systems are expected to roll past the Kansas City area bringing extra clouds before weekend temperatures soar into the 60s, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“We are anticipating extra clouds as we go through the afternoon forecast,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “It looks pretty ominous, up to our north. There’s a clipper that’s going to be rolling down towards us throughout the day today.”
A clipper, named after fast sailing ships, is a fast-moving low pressure system that races down into the United States along the jet stream.
“If nothing else, lots of extra clouds this afternoon and the possibility for a few sprinkles with the bulk of activity staying west of Kansas City,” Ritter said.

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
Afternoon highs will be in the 40s Thursday and then jump up into the low 50s on Friday as another clipper zips by producing some extra clouds, Ritter said.
“The real payoff arrives heading into the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday highs getting even warmer back in the 60s,” Ritter said.
