Warm temperatures in Kansas City weather forecast this weekend
The Kansas City area will see temperatures hover around normal to end the work week, but a big spring-like warm up is coming for the weekend, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Later on today, we are going to see very typical February temperatures as afternoon highs climb into the upper 40s,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said the normal high for this time of year in Kansas City is 48 degrees.
“Clouds will be increasing, especially west of the state line, where we have our next clipper system moving through Kansas and it is going to produce the possibility of a few spits and sprinkles,” she said.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The weather system was in western Nebraska early Thursday and was expected to race to the south and east through Kansas.
“Maybe the southwest side of our viewing area picks up a little bit of spits or sprinkles, but most of this moisture is going to stay removed from the immediate metro,” Ritter said.
The metro area, however, will have a few extra clouds as the afternoon unfolds into the early evening.
“Then we clear out overnight,” Ritter said. “We drop to 30 and then we will press ‘repeat’ and do it all over again tomorrow before the big warm up arrives headed into the weekend.”
Highs are expected to be in the 60s this weekend, which is more typical of mid-April in Kansas City.
