Winter storm could bring light snow to Kansas City area this week

A winter storm moving into the Kansas City area could bring light snow over the next few days, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

The storm system moving in from the west should arrive by Tuesday evening, said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.

But drivers on Monday should focus on the fog. Ritter said the fog that’s been around for the last day won’t begin to dissipate until Monday afternoon.

“We cannot rule out a few sprinkles up to our north and certainly a lot of cloud cover throughout the day,” Ritter said.

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.

According to the National Weather Service, a dense fog advisory is ongoing until 10 a.m. Monday. The fog could cause slick spots, the weather service said, as moisture freezes to pavement.

It could also reduce visibility to under one mile.

Temperatures should reach 35 by Monday afternoon and should continue to rise throughout the week, reaching up to 55 degrees on Sunday.
